Sitting Downwind of Flowers

When Preston was diagnosed with cancer, I wanted to send him and meganwaters2004  something spiritually comforting. I didn't know what, exactly, but I came across this article, Sitting Downwind of Flowers. True or untrue, it's a beautiful story, and I know the healing power of nature and gardens from first-hand experience.

And now I have this idea in mind that ( Read more... )

That sounds like a totally awesome idea. It could even help folks with depression or other mental illnesses. I got my fingers crossed for you. *hugs*

I think it sounds like a beautiful idea.

Perhaps, down the line, you can mesh your two loves, photography and the garden, and maybe use photos of the garden and its flowers, etc, to promote its existence.

You might also arrive at the day where it can be a memory garden...those that have lost loved ones can contribute a plant, tree, bush, etc, in memory of what they lost and as a comfort to those going through the same thing.

Good ideas! Some people on Facebook suggested the memory garden, too, and I do like that a lot.

If I didn't live about 500 miles away, I'd come and help you dig and plant :)

This is a beautiful idea. If I lived closer, I'd happily show up with shovel in hand to do your grunt work. Do post a list of what you think you might need - these things have a way of working themselves out.

Thanks! I'm working on a five year plan right now; what I need to do, what I'll need to make it happen.

Well I love it. Preston had peace and aligned himself with God, but he didn't have an chance to sit downwind of flowers. I know he would have enjoyed the chance.
