you have to change your account type for that, click on account located next to your username at the top, the first thing you see is Account Level it most likely says Plus Account which uses ads and gives you more userpic space, on the very right of it, it should say upgrade click on it

it should give you two choices either downgrading to a basic account which removes ads and gives you only 6 userpic space and a paid account option, choose the downgrading to basic account option
