I thought I'd post the story of a fascinating (re)invention--one that reaffirms a claim I've read elsewhere that the largest advances in science/technology are still being made by lone geniuses, not skilled and well-funded research teams.

I love this thing for obvious reasons. He must have worked fast, it was only recently that they imaged the internal workings of the device and figured out waht it actually does.

As a side note, who said it was the 'first computer' eh ? its only the first one we have _found_. At the very least you do not make one of these with out producing other simialr but simpler devices first.

Things like this do not preserve in the record very easily.
