El had erected a small altar to his loved ones and made the proper gifts.

He also had a tray of pan del muerto, for anyone who came by, Mexican or no.

[[Up for Chad, but open to anyone, whether you live there or are just swinging by.]]

Nadia was taking a somewhat round about route back to the clinic, and spotted El on his porch, taking in the altar. "Hola, El Professor,"

El looked up. "Hola Nadia." He pushed forward the tray of bread. "Pan del Muerto?"

Nadia frowned at the phrase and the bread, but accepted a piece, anyway. "//What's this for?//"

"Dia de los Muertos," El responded. "//Do they not celebreate the Day of the Dead in Argentina?//"

Nadia shook her head, still looking at the bread. "//Not that I've seen or that my mun has found after researching for two days. Is it like Halloween?//"

"//The day of the dead is, in Mexico, a day of rememberance of those you know who have died. A celebration of their lives.//"

Nadia nodded, then took a bite of the bread. "//All the people you know who have died? Because some of them I don't want to remember.//"

El nodded. //"That's up to you. I always think of all of them, even the ones I very much do not want to remember.//"

Nadia looked over El's altar. "//Do you have a lot of them, sir?//"

"//Yes, Nadia. Many, many, many dead people to remember.//"

Nadia suddenly realized that that was probably a really dumb and very rude question. "//I'm sorry. I should let you get back to remembering them.//"

"//Wait, Nadia,//" El said. "//Is there anyone you would care to remember?//"

Nadia paused and thought for a moment. "//. . . Yeah. Is there a way you're supposed to do it?//"

El nodded to the altar. "//Stand in front of the altar and pray for them. You may offer a marigold if you want, though.//" He offered one of the flowers.

Nadia accepted the flower and smiled slightly. Rico would have liked this, the tiny skulls, the flowers, and the bread. "//Thank you, sir.//" She stood for a moment, looking at the altar and thinking, then set the flower down.

"//One other important part,"// El, said.
