Edited - pardon me, those who read the entry before I corrected it. Cashew was on my desk and had fun on the keyboard as I was setting up the floor so he could have floortime.

A few days ago I took Cashew to his new veterinary surgery. As some of you might remember, I was fortunate enough to be granted permission by my landlord to move Cashew from ( Read more... )

My pigs just hide in their snuggle bags and chubble until we're done at the vet. Nothing so dramatic as playing dead, though. Maybe your piggle is part possum?
Also, I didn't know rabbits needed vaccinations? What do you get them vaccinated for?

You don't generally vaccinate rabbits in the US, it's a UK/Austrialian thing, they've got communicable diseases in their wild rabbit population that we don't. :)

In the UK (specifically, Scotland) we have occassional outbreaks of Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (VHD) especially among our feral rabbit populations. Myxomatosis broke out a couple of miles north from where I live a few years back, so my rabbits are round-the-year covered for it (and VHD is given two weeks after Myxo') especially since Myxo' is spread through biting insects/fleas. Both diseases are extremely deadly and difficult to treat. I believe in Australia they release the Myxomatosis virus to kill off their rabbit populations :(

Maybe Cashew is part possum... or perhaps he's been watching too much TV over my shoulder when I've been thinking he's been alseep!!! Sneaky piggie!

Gracie plays dead at the vets, from the minute the carrier starts moving until we get home again. I lift her out on to the table at the vets and just lay her down on the table, all floppy and glass eyed - scary as feck!

Yes, it is scary! I've never felt an alive pig being a dead weight to hold, staring up at the heavens that have - oh, the tunnel of light. WOE WOE WOE!!!

One good thing about him playing dead is that the vet commented on how good he was. If playing dead during nail clippings is good, I'll take it. :D

Haha, Irving is a vet's dream. He sat completely still (peed twice, but not a big deal) while they did their thing, and only fidgeted when they were taking a skin scraping.

On the other hand, I warned them ahead of time about Henry, and he wiggled and did NOT want to sit still at all.

But yeah, clipping their nails is another story. When I'd try to enlist the help of my dad, Irving would start screaming... when the nail clippers weren't even on his nails. My dad was like I'M SORRY I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THIS and Irving would just get this smug look on his face. @______@
