Interesting... Neil's dad is only a couple of years older, and he lost his license last year. He had to take the test and failed his three chances. A lot of back and forth and a couple of lessons later, he tested again this week.... and failed once more. I have no idea of the mechanism by which they automatically renew or decide you need to test again, but it looks like they made the right call here.

She only drives in Rockledge, to the Dr. & Grocery store. And only during daylight hours.

thank goodness.

Everything else I get to do the honors, in fact I drove her to the License place.

That's frightening. And here I am at 51, scared to try and renew because my left eye has a beginning cataract. Although it expres in August and we move to CA in June, so that might be a whole new form of terror. ::face/palm::

Doing the same dance re: Driver's license with my FIL . His doctor told him to STOP driving. But ignored it and went and got his license renewed in October. (he's memorized the damned eye test--so a fat lot of good it does by the state requiring an eye test every year after age 75...) Now his health is deteriorating and he's STILL driving--only all 4 of his tires are 10 pounds underpressured and he hasn't had the oil changed in his car in over a year and half....(I know about the tires because after I got back from the oncologist on Friday, I took his car to gas station and filled them. I'll be taking it in for an oil change on Tuesday....Damn this is *new* car--and I was hoping to have still in good shape when it becomes mine.)
