Conversations [Starbase 11 lounge]
Guinan had been on board Starbase 11 for just over one year. She'd been traveling with some mercenaries merchants before that, her prowess with a phaser coming in handy and just as welcome as her ability to mix a strong drink.
The bar was already here when she came aboard, but with her connections, she'd managed to get a few cases of certain luxuries that satisfied her guests, be they dignitary or ensign. Guinan didn't distinguish between the two, and according to Commander Wood, that made her a welcome guest on the starbase for as long as she wanted to remain there.
But the crew of the Enterprise was visiting, all of them young and excited, full of life and stories of their young captain. Everyone knew about Jim Kirk, Spock, and the Narada. Guinan had heard the stories. Remarkably, that wasn't what the crew talked about when they stepped into her bar. She listened to them describe him as a warm and caring captain, young, but energetic, who knew everyone by name. Fair, judicious, and smart as hell. The Vulcan first officer was a war hero, but preferred to be known as a scientist.
