Still more trailers showing up on the web. Gametrailers now has some better quality versions of the trailer I posted yesterday (low resolution
here, high resolution
here). For some reason the voice overs are missing from this version, but at least the image quality's much improved. There's also some new text at the end listing things which will be available on the XBOX Live marketplace in the near future. (25-9-2007 Image Video, 7-10-2007 Theme Icon pack, and 30-10-2007 The kanji says ‘personal experience version’. I think this means some kind of demo version).
Anyway, as promised, some more info on the Overture plot from more recent sources.
Plot info
Some info about the Overture plot which I turned up previously is posted
back here. Stuff below fills in a few gaps and adds some new details.
- Remember those Wanted Posters offering $100,000,000 for Sol, dead or alive? There's an explanation for those now - and not one we would have guessed. Apparently, after his kingdom comes under attack by Valentine's Servants, Ky has those posters put up as a message for Sol that he needs Sol's help. Weird a method as this may sound, Sol deciphers it right away, grumbling a bit about Ky being so indirect. (Man, the way those two communicate. XDDDD)
- After Sol, Sin and Izuna finally meet Valentine for the first time, Sol makes one interesting comment which translates to, "You're A.... No, it can't be." He also mentions his head feeling funny again after meeting her.
- Valentine's bio says she's looking for something she refers to as "the key".
- The ability to summon Servants seems to be explained as the characters unlocking some new kind of magic. From the in game tutorial screenshots, it doesn't look at a glance like we're likely to get much more explanation than that.
- One last fun thing to look out for in the higher resolution trailers trailer is a little scene in which you can just make out Sol, Ky, Sin, Izuna and Dr Paradigm all standing together in some kind of underground cave in front of an army of Ky's troops.
Name translations
- Ky's kingdom is not called Icuria as previously reported, but something like 'Ilulia' or 'Iruria' depending on how you romanise the more awkward katakana. I'd guess the official translation will probably be something like Iluria.
- Some of the official information translates the name of Valentine's balloon as 'Lucyfellow' rather than 'Luciferro' as I had it translated previously, though we'll probably have to wait and see whether this spelling sticks.
Speculation on other characters
- According to Gamespot, there are close to 60 Servants in total in the game. Since there've been five Masters with specific Tribes of Servants revealed thus far (Ky and Sin use the same Servants) and eight to each Tribe (counting the Captures), there could be another couple of playable characters left to be revealed. On the other hand, there may well be some of those specialised Servants I've seen referred to as 'Minions' left to be revealed for each character, which could chew up a lot of the leftover.
- There's been no official statement made that any other familiar characters will appear in the game, but there hasn't been any official denial either. I've heard one guest claim he heard a new remix of Chipp's theme being played at the Tokyo Gameshow, which is certainly interesting if true. There's also always the possibility that some of the old characters might get cameo appearances even if they're not playable.
Dunno about the rest of you, but the more I hear about this game, the more I can't wait to play it. ^__^
