In Which That F*@%ing Case is OVER.

Yeah. That one case, man - we finally won it. Initially we lost it, which had me all but clawing at my own flesh because the defendants were TOTALLY not liable and I helped mount an absolutely airtight defense if I do say so my own bad self. (I mean, this was a BRAVURA job of precedent research here, I was genuinely proud of my work in a way ( Read more... )

I'm glad you can stop getting the shit beat out of you by incompetent assholes. Are you competing at all?

I competed in a Labor Day tournament, womens' foil and women's sabre -- seventh of twelve in the first, ninth of fifteen in the second. Not enough to get my E2011, alas, darnit darnit.

So I've decided that what's really holding me back is:

1) ANXIETY. In a competition situation against all new opponents, I get so nervous and scared that I'll give up stupid touches sometimes.

2) Lack of leg strength. Cardio, weight training... which is boring as sin, needless to say. Now that I'm not putting in 55 hour work weeks, I think I might take an adult recreational ballet class, because nothing gives you legs quite like ballet.

So how are you doin', sweet lady? Life treating you decently at present?

If you join a ballet class, please document it for posterity. Pictures and play-by-play if possible.

For 1) I suggest taking your sabre down a few dark alleys at night. Fight off a few muggers and junkies and see if your anxiety in competition doesn't decrease.

Me? I'm fine. Loads of therapy, a few harsh realities and things are surprisingly good between Mark and I. Liam's large and in charge, I'm working retail which is not the worst of all possible worlds, surprisingly, and the PR thing took off like gangbusters over the summer so I'm really enjoying that. Right now I'm planning my birthday in which I think I'll take myself to New York and I'm planning a couple of tattoos to commemorate the occasion and my growth in the last year. Other than that? I just remembered I'm thinking about starting a fashion blog. You really ought to get down on that with me.

This case srsly broke my heart -- it involved an injured kid, an injured two-year-old filly, an injured motorcyclist, and multiple plaintiffs and defendants.

But yeah -- in the end, JUSTICE WAS SERVED, baby. *high five*
