Unfortunately, Samsung decided to castrate their nc10-version of sammy. Intel's tech.docs. say that the chipset is capable of AHCI. Not sure what Samsung had in mind with that, probably forcing customers to throw away their 2-3 year old device --> "If you want SSD with AHCI, pay again for it"

First of all, the fact that you even know what linux is, is enough for me to say that you know more than most of the tech support people that you will talk to.
First tier support doesn't even work for Samsung. They work for a call center and read scripts. If your problem isn't covered in the scripts (something like 95% are), then you get elevated to a higher level tech support. Since you didn't buy the computer in the US, they aren't obligated to elevate you, because as far as the call center is concerned, you aren't making them any money.
Now, to your problem: you said that the option for AHCI used to be in the BIOS, right? Then just flash the old BIOS firmware to the system. Problem solved. Is there any reason that you had to update the BIOS? Was there something broken?
