Sammy probably can't 'TRIM' :(

Unfortunately, Samsung decided to castrate their nc10-version of sammy. Intel's tech.docs. say that the chipset is capable of AHCI. Not sure what Samsung had in mind with that, probably forcing customers to throw away their 2-3 year old device --> "If you want SSD with AHCI, pay again for it"

I really like Sammy, he is doing a great job, already for ( Read more... )

So, you can't figure out how to install AHCI and you're surprised that their support doesn't either?
First of all, the fact that you even know what linux is, is enough for me to say that you know more than most of the tech support people that you will talk to.
First tier support doesn't even work for Samsung. They work for a call center and read scripts. If your problem isn't covered in the scripts (something like 95% are), then you get elevated to a higher level tech support. Since you didn't buy the computer in the US, they aren't obligated to elevate you, because as far as the call center is concerned, you aren't making them any money.

Now, to your problem: you said that the option for AHCI used to be in the BIOS, right? Then just flash the old BIOS firmware to the system. Problem solved. Is there any reason that you had to update the BIOS? Was there something broken?

By the way, the reason I know this is because I used to work at a call center doing tech support, and my coworkers knew less about computers than most grandparents I know.
