Ladies and gentlemen, we have confirmation of what I was fearing.

Please observe this kind soul's comment on the latest LJ News post. THAT is what you have to look forward to when this "beta period" ends.

Spread the news to everyone you know who does long-format posts. Get the word out. Myself? I think that the moment the beta period expires, all of my sporks will be links to my Dreamwidth. I'll still stay on LJ ( Read more... )

darn you lj, for the greater good

I'm honestly, not-even-kidding dreading clicking on that link. LJ is the last place I go to for any kind of long, intellectual discussion. If it goes, I will literally have no place on the net to socialize.

Ok, here I go to click. :(

*pats on back* Making the jump to Dreamwidth isn't so bad... It's just that there's not as many people on there. And there's an option to connect accounts (which I haven't taken, because I'm leery of giving ANYTHING my passwords to other sites), so you could write posts on DW and have it be crossposted here.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck. :(

Oh, I'm already on DW. I wish more people would move there, but it's very hard to get away from LJ :( Hopefully, FandomSecrets' big move will be the first of many big migrations.

We can hope, right? The LJ staff seem focused enough on driving away everyone not interested in the transition to LiveFacebook... |P

(And you are? *checks* Hey, you are! :D Good to see you!)

Attempted crossposting from DW a while back. Never was quite successful.

Might be worth it to try again, though, from the looks of things.

Yeah, LJ's getting... dimwitted again. :| Now I'm realizing what sort of behavior triggered the Mass Emigration...

(Also - *glomps*)

My first thought was 'oh gad, what are people like me who use the rich text editor going to do if it stays up at the top of the page?'. Then I tried it out in preview and realised that the text editor part stays in view while you scroll down the page. Then I realised that the options are all invisible when you have the normal page colours changed by Firefox, which is what I do to prevent massive eyestrain from staring at a white screen all day. So....I don't know. I'm not sure if it's just livable fail or an untenable situation or what :/

To be, um, fair, maybe they're trying to make it look more like a Word document or something? The part they're missing is how annoying it would be if, in order to save (ie post) a Word document, you had to scroll all the way to the bottom of your 10,000 word page.

Or if you had to scroll all the way to the top of said document to shift to HTML, or.... Yeah. :|
