... Hell, you people are going to ruin my irresponsible streak.

Can't I just say voting's against my religion?

I'm sure you'll manage to get your irresponsibility in somehow.

...If everyone with some modicum of common sense all abstain from voting, then we're left with the people who shouldn't be voting making the decisions. Please vote.

Oh yeah. I'll leave off feeding somebody's pet budgie. Awesome idea.

So I've got common sense now? What fresh new hell is this?

I bet you don't even know anyone with a pet bird.

I didn't say you had much.

This matter is too publicized.

It is the same as the last election.

Too many hold an interest.

As is to be expected.

Be thankful the nominees are slightly more sane than the last election, at least.

.........

I know that's how it's done here. ...But doesn't it seem like having elections for a position like that is just asking for trouble?

Usually there at least a few highly unqualified persons who run, yes.

That's true...

...but more that usually anything political comes with its own set of problems. And with one elected person in charge of the entire police force... ...well, it wouldn't take much for things to go badly.

No, it wouldn't. Hence my request for everyone on the force to please vote for someone they're willing to work for.

Anyone can run, and they frequently do, but in the end it's down to who votes and who doesn't to determine what happens.
