Aug 10, 2011 12:50

[This isn't the first time Touya's woken up to an empty side of the bed, but it is the first time he's gone to bed alone. In a house with only him in it ( Read more... )

To be honest, they could arrive anywhere. I've awakened from kidnapping near the river or lake, and had friends arrive at the plaza or in the middle of the forest....

...yeah, I thought so. [That doesn't stop him from sounding disappointed, though.]

[She understands, and her voice softens a touch.]

Who are you seeking? If nothing else, at least others can keep an eye out for the person.

Tsukishiro Yukito and Yue. They didn't come home after work two days ago. [It makes him sick to think about it, honestly. But she's right: more people can be on the lookout if he makes the effort despite how much he doesn't want to think about the details.]

They can appear anywhere.

I've heard some had the misfortune of returning under bathroom sinks.

Bathroom sinks...?

[He didn't just clear out everything under the sink just in case. Of course not.] Who came back under their sink?

It is only a rumor. I'm afraid I don't know specifics.

Oh.

[That actually made him feel a little better for a moment. Too bad he couldn't go on imagining someone crammed under their sink.]

I arrived in a closet.

From what I can tell it usually differs. But I think one of the more popular spots might be the forest? It's at least a place you should be cautious of. Incase they do happen to arrive there.

[The forest, right. That was where he came back too.] It isn't a place someone who might be disoriented should be running around in, either.

It isn't. But I think it's rare that anyone is ever seriously injured on their way back. With the journal system it's nearly impossible for at least some kind of search rescue party to not be formed.

That's true. I don't know if he has his journal, though. He could be wandering around for hours, and nobody would know. Which isn't anybody's fault, but...

[But Touya's just thinking about every worst-case scenario he can. What would Yue do with his wings if he was dropped into the lake? Or what if they were paralyzed and laying in a ditch like Kohaku was?]

While they can appear anywhere, the most common places seem to be the forest or the lake, especially with those who can take care of themselves. The more dependant ones, like children, seem to be dropped off closer.

... Who is it you're looking for, Touya?

...Yuki and Yue are gone. Guess I have to start hanging around the forest and the lake, huh?

I see... you can't be in both places at once. Want to switch off?

You'd do that...? [He sounds genuinely surprised. While Neliel was his pseudo-mother for a while, Touya didn't expect this.]

Honestly? Probably in the place that would be the least convenient. They returned me in the lake one time. A few of my friends wound up in the forest...it's too chancy to really tell.

But if you really needed to pinpoint it, I'd stick with where you'd least expect it.

The Malnosso like to inconvenience us--there are just so many places that are 'inconvenient'. Like the lake and the forest.

It isn't a matter of life-and-death if I don't pinpoint it exactly... I just don't want them to think I wasn't at least trying.

...how close are you to the person that was taken?

They're my best friends. And my housemates, I guess.
