I agree with this 100%. Sure, I did get a few little things that I don't really need, but for the most part I got money (in some form or another). My parents paid for my flight home (because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford to see my family), gave me some cash, and bought me two months of paid time on World of Warcraft (something I love to do to entertain myself since I don't have a television and, like you, have watched every DVD I own 800 times, but cannot afford to spend the money on every month as I am flat broke).
People kept asking me what I wanted for Christmas this year and all I could think of were things like a real bed (April and I sleep on a shitty borrowed futon right now), someone to fix my car (starting it has become a process in its self), and money to pay off the debt I'm in from said car and college loans.
