Buffy/Faith rec: Mememtos by Alex Wert (F deathfic set in the future)

Feelin' like the 90s is not at peace with being gone.

Years later, Buffy must confront her feelings at Faith's funeral.

It's good, and I found that Alex Wert's story notes, that "This is for cherishing the good times.", to be very, very apt. I could see it happening. ...and thinking back, it's unfortunate, but there is probably no way for ( Read more... )

The other thing about Bashir is that he is a professional and a military officer, albeit a young and somewhat guileless one.

I watched Buffy for a while (someone I knew tried to get me hooked), but I was always more interested in Giles and Willow as characters than Buffy or Angel.

...so I think he was trained to fight too? At least self-defense? He 's gotta have some upper body strength to be good at tennis. That does take muscle, it looks fun but I could never play it, instead I struck to badminton.

Buffy could be interesting, and I liked Buffy a lot, in the beginning, she was so kind and bright. First, standing up to Cordelia, going to slay the Master even though she was afraid she was going to die, but was convinced after sitting with Willow the morning after they found a bunch of their classmates dead. I also liked her in the season three opening too, when she helped Lily.

Willow was cute, but then they cardboard her, and only gave her really awful lines. If they had to 'gay up' someone, just have them have a romantic relationship with someone of the same sex, and don't /mess/ with the character, seriously.

It should totally have been Buffy and Faith too. Or Giles and Ethan.

I started to lose interest in Willow when she became gay and even more so when she became a witch. Those are things that would usually make me more interested, but, like you said, her character just changed too much.

Which is why I have more sympathy for him gsyh January 25 2007, 21:50:08 UTC
I feel really bad for him in babel's "Casual", or in other fics where Garak meant much less to Bashir than Bashir meant to Garak. PS, I really like reading your fic, "Warmth", it is very hot and happy.

Bashir is really a jerk in nostalgia's Five Things That Might Have Happened To Julian Bashir (If Anyone Had Asked), but reading her other stories, I can understand why that Julian is the way he is, he doesn't think much of himself because the genetics thing and him living a lie. ...and I'm of the opinion that people who don't love themselves can't love...not well at least. In Cold Hands, Warm Hearts, he thinks, "Your life means very little, and the love of a murderer is all you can ever hope for", which doesn't reflect well on how he thinks of Garak eh ( ... )

I never watched Buffy religiously but I had a friend who used to make me watch with her. I was never a fan of Buffy/Angel though... but then that was probably mainly because I just didn't like Angel. I never had as good or thought out reasoning as you do but a lot of what you said makes perfect sense...

Angel is a parody of virtue gsyh January 25 2007, 21:52:18 UTC
I feel bad for him, but Christ, I also feel like I shouldn't have the sympathy to spare for someone like him. He /is/ like Dukat, the white man's burden for not getting all that he thinks he deserves. He broods and broods but his circumstances really pale compared to other characters.
