I watched Buffy for a while (someone I knew tried to get me hooked), but I was always more interested in Giles and Willow as characters than Buffy or Angel.

Buffy could be interesting, and I liked Buffy a lot, in the beginning, she was so kind and bright. First, standing up to Cordelia, going to slay the Master even though she was afraid she was going to die, but was convinced after sitting with Willow the morning after they found a bunch of their classmates dead. I also liked her in the season three opening too, when she helped Lily.
Willow was cute, but then they cardboard her, and only gave her really awful lines. If they had to 'gay up' someone, just have them have a romantic relationship with someone of the same sex, and don't /mess/ with the character, seriously.
It should totally have been Buffy and Faith too. Or Giles and Ethan.

Bashir is really a jerk in nostalgia's Five Things That Might Have Happened To Julian Bashir (If Anyone Had Asked), but reading her other stories, I can understand why that Julian is the way he is, he doesn't think much of himself because the genetics thing and him living a lie. ...and I'm of the opinion that people who don't love themselves can't love...not well at least. In Cold Hands, Warm Hearts, he thinks, "Your life means very little, and the love of a murderer is all you can ever hope for", which doesn't reflect well on how he thinks of Garak eh ( ... )
