Oh boy

So, I've spent the last two hours searching on-line for summer employment, but the thing about that is...no one really is looking for summer help that I could find. The last thing I want to do is go back to work at Baltimore County; if I were to do that I would feel like another summer was wasted. I have worked there two summers now, and I do not ( Read more... )

Have you gotten your BGE application in? nepotism is the way...if that doesn't work out, i could ask my dad about county employment or something? we need work!

could you maybe see if theres a temp agency in baltimore that deals with spanish speaking employers and employees? the latino community is growing, and having not as high paid translators would be a boon.

my dads ex girlfriend is latino, and has numerous contacts. if you want me to ask her if she knows of any companies you could search for or specific people, I'd be more than happy to do so.

That would actually be great, if you don't mind asking her. I so badly want to find something, but it's hard to even know where to start.

I know that you are most likely looking for paid position, however, if you are looking to give back there are plenty of programs that would allow you to do so. I know a few friends in other states that tutor kids in impoverished neighborhoods during the summers.

And trust me, showing that you volunteered your skills for a summer helping the less fortunate goes a long way on your resume. Both for the real world and internships too.

Hope you are enjoying your break :)

The way it is in our house, I feel like if I do not get a summer job that pays me, that I am not pulling my weight in the house. Thus, as much as I would like to volunteer, it just would not work out.

Have you asked Bibaud? I don't know if she has any specific contacts, but she would probably have ideas of where to start.
