Anglican diocese in California votes to secede from church

An Episcopal Church diocese based in Fresno, California voted to leave the Episcopal Church over its increasingly pro-gay stance and is joining up with the Iglesia Anglicana del Cono Sur de las Americas (Anglican Province of the Southern Cone of the Americas), a much more homophobic church, based in Buenos Aires, also affiliated with the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Although Iglesia Anglicana del Cono Sur de las Americas covers a lot of territory (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay) it's actually pretty tiny, with just 22,000 members spread across those six countries (which have a total population of over 100 million people). But they've been recruiting American parishes that want out of the Episcopal Church in the US because of disagreements about homosexuality.
