Gay Pride Flag on the Space Needle

Last year, the Space Needle flew a gay pride flag. I thought it was pretty awesome to see a gay pride flag atop a very visible part of the city. Gave me goosebumps and all that jazz.

Just recently, the Space Needle announced it would not fly it this year. Gay rights groups were upset and a petition was circulated.

One has to wonder if that was part of their plan. Haha.

I dunno why there is any complaining, clearly the owners of the Space Needle seem to be interested in at least suggesting that there's a pretty good reason to fly the flag, not just because of gay pride.

Seems like a win-win for everyone. Charities will get money, the lgbt community will get to see the flag, and the haters can still shit a brick over the existence of said flag :)

I heard about this earlier. I have mixed feelings about it, but like you, I don't really have a problem with them wanting the LGBT community to take some initiative and raise money for worthwhile causes. Assuming they are.

And yeah, people are donating. Though as you can see on the wall there are complaints from the anti-gay and pro-gay camps.

Just that it seems like they're forcing money to do what they've done in the past for free, and what they clearly don't have any opposition to.

I have some issues with it to, but it is raising money for charity and it would be a way to demonstrate that there is community support for it.
