I find the question interesting, to be honest. Would you be upset? It's a discussion point. It's not transphobia whatsoever, in my opinion.

That was my initial reaction, too. They probably realized that an inflammatory question like that would cause a shitstorm.

I think they chickened out on the first question, someone suggested the second and they didn't think how it might be taken.

My opinion, of course, which might be wrong.

I think so too. There wasn't really much wrong with the question itself; it's a legitimate question, but I can understand why people would be upset by it, and what possible abuse could happen within the comments.

Yes, I believe it's an innocent mistake. And no, I don't think it's transphobic in any light, nor do I think LJ needs to apologize for it in any capacity. I think sometimes we are guilty of looking for *-phobia when it isn't there.

I'm gonna have to agree, especially with that second part.

It was just a mistake born from LJ trying to be inclusive. Then they realized how much fail it was and corrected it. I wouldn't worry about it.

At least they realized it was inflammatory.

Could you link to some of the posts that use the original wording? I didn't skim all 1300 of them, but I jumped to "skip=1200" and went backwards from there. The first five or so replies to the question were in Russian, but the first English one in the answer list uses the current wording.

I'm not questioning the validity of this, just wondering if maybe it was a system glitch that merged two questions and has been fixed, or if LJ saw their mistake and removed/unlinked the answers that pertained to the original wording.

innerbrat has a link list of reactions to it here.

They may have removed the original replies or moved them.
