( This week started with the first same-sex nuptials taking place in Washington, D.C. And now this week ends with the first same-sex weddings taking place in Mexico City. Two world capitals. Two different time zones. But the same goal: equal rights for everyone. )

I wonder how long it will take for gay marriage to be legal across Mexico. I'm guessing a long time. Funny how urban areas are almost always more socially progressive.

With same-sex marriage legal in Canada and (pending a court decision on the governor's right to decree same-sex marriage legal) Tierra del Fuego Province in Argentina (which includes the portion of Antarctica claimed by Argentina) the top and bottom of the Americas are covered, so we just have to keep working our way toward the middle. Maybe Panama will be the last domino to fall.
