Well, it's his Department of Justice, headed by his pick for Attorney General, Eric Holder. If Obama didn't want this to happen, it wouldn't happen.

Unfortunately, it would not surprise me if we saw some scaling back of gay rights in our lifetime. I hope I'm wrong. But when things go wrong in societies (and there are a lot of pitfalls that this country faces in the future), people look for scapegoats.

Wow. That's what you get for assuming a politician has any decency. A slap in the face, and a brand as an incestuous freak. Thanks Obama!

One question: He defends DOMA in court, while claiming he wants it repealed by Congress. What's the difference?

While I understand everyone's frustration, doesn't the President of the United States take an oath to protect, uphold and defend the constitution? And the laws that Congress pass?

Previous presidents - in both parties - have had their administration oppose laws in courts that the president doesn't support.

Fairly rare, but there's certainly precedence.

Thanks. I noticed and was pleased. See, Matt makes a game of fucking with the tags (at least in the past) so I double checked them and saw how beautiful they were. <3

I had second thoughts and tried to take out the extra tags myself, but wasn't able to.

I've never been THAT bad. Just a random non sequitur here and there. :P

So much for a complete repeal, which he touted to the gay community as his main difference between he and Clinton on gay issues.

At least Republicans are honest about their opposition. They don't try to ply us for votes and money and than stab us in the back. Their hostility is lamentable, but at least we know where they really stand.

I never had much hope from the Obama administration on gay rights (I am ultimately a realist), but I also didn't expect outright antagonism to LBGTQ human rights either.

The ONLY way he can recover from this in the gay community is he does actually push for an end to DOMA. Now. If he actually makes it a priority and expends some political capital. But we all know that's not going to happen. After all, it wouldn't be doubling the national debt or taking over industry, so he isn't interested.
