I was wanting to send this to the HRC or some such group, and wanted to get some feedback first.

Comments on the ideas expressed as well as punctuation, syntax, word choice, etc. are welcome.

Might I suggest another group to send this to? I realise that HRC is the most well known "gay advocacy" group out there, but very rarely do they actually DO anything. They host galas and balls and make nice with people in Congress, but nothing actually gets done.

National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is very similar to HRC, except that they spend what little donations they get on working for GLBT issues. They don't get a whole lot of PR because HRC is so popular, but in many ways they're the premier GLBT organization. They have a large (and active) trans division and they actually participate in the marriage and equal rights lawsuits at the state level.
