I'm so glad for you. I just had some blood work done at my cardiologist's office and I was astounded that it was so good. My diet sucks. In fact, I'm fixin' to head to Holly Springs for some chocolate/peanut butter ice cream. But my cholesterol was good as was all the other blood work.
Who is your GP, if you don't mind me asking? I use the doc I work for even though that's not her specialty. I also use my ED docs when needed. And my cardiologist as a backup.
No, I don't mind you asking. I'll PM his name to you. He's right around the corner from your ED.
And thanks! That was what annoyed me, and why we were both so surprised: my diet is seriously good. I'm just glad it is helping so much; I've been working my ass off for weeks.
Is it only certain teas that lower cholesterol? I just had bloodwork done last week, and mine is high. My sugar hasn't been cooperating lately, either. I so need to get my diet under control.
Usual 'not a doctor' disclaimer applies here!gryphonrhiAugust 31 2011, 23:21:52 UTC
Honestly, any of the teas (black, green, or white) are high in antioxidants, black lowest, white highest, but all of them good for you.
For keeping your blood sugar under control, I've heard good things (and my father-in-law has had good results) with cinnamon capsules and he's currently trying chromium picolinate. Mostly, though, I really recommend daily (or close to) cardio. Throw in an ep and pull out your Gazelle, I'd say.
That said, this is WebMD's Cholesterol Management site (which is what encouraged me to try the cardio); here's a link to supplement recommendations and dietary suggestions from them. As an FYI: statin cholesterol meds are derived from red rice yeast, and I've heard the rice yeast can be damn near as hard on your kidneys/liver as the statins. If you do want to try supplements, Target's a good source for fish oil (get the burp free; it'll say so on the label), flush-free niacin, and cinnamon; Vitamin Shoppe (online if you don't have one nearby) is a good source for 21-gram Lecithin

Congratulations, and good for you! And just think, that happy dance is also good for your exercise regime :-) Whisper offers you a tasty, vitamin-filled smoothie in celebration (okay, that's actually a strawberry daiquiri he's guarding, but you get the gist).
::grinning:: Make mine a strawberry margarita and you're on! And thanks! I'm finally past the 'oh thank Whomever, no new prescription!' and into 'YAY me!'
