GIP and plant update

The flowers not having died yet, and in fact flowering happily away (except for one azalea that's alive, but not flowering; too much shade?), I'm now off to plant more azaleas on the west side of the house, some impatiens under the deciduous magnolia (yes, really, I had no idea they existed either!), and two lilacs between the azaleas to eventually ( Read more... )

Lilacs! \o/ I love the smell of lilacs. We had this huge bush outside our garage at the home I grew up in. I was always bummed that the cuttings we brought down with us would never grow.

That's too bad! Alysswolf and I hunted down the last two plants at Lowe's and bought them fast, before they vanished.

Yeah... NC has really sucky soil. More clay than anything else. It makes it hard to grow things without redoing the ground entirely before planting.

We've got a lot of clay here, too. We'll see how they do. If they fail, I can redo the soil next year and try again.
