Back Through the Wolf Gate, FMA fic

A couple years ago, I wrote an afterword (or, um, 17K of afterword; oops?) to the Full Metal Alchemist movie: Conqueror of Shambala. It was HL/FK/FMA/Hammer films (yeah, I know, but it actually worked; you kinda had to be there), and it was called Keeping the Wolves From the Doors. Anyway. I finally finished the epilogue to that fic. Hope you ( Read more... )

Thank you!

I do wonder though--if all of Ed and Al's clothing came from the other side of the gate, what about the clothing from their home side which they left on the other? And, what happened to the snakes, which came from both sides?

And I see that there's still room for a sequel, since there is still that one snake left on the other side . . .

(Nice implications, too. If you ever do the sequel, maybe we can see more?)

I think, despite Ed's paranoia, that the clothing is probably all right. ::wry:: The depression having been as bad in Germany as it was, by now those clothes they wore to the other world/our Earth are probably rags. Hell, the odds are about even whether they've been made into a rug or burnt.

Most of the snakes are in the world gate and no problem. (Well, other than the problem of half a dozen young dragons being in the world gate....) And yeah, I left the one snake there to give myself room for a sequel, but I doubt I'll write it honestly. ::rueful:: It *is* the Depression in Germany. I do not give that snake good odds of survival.

And I enjoy FMA, but I have no idea if I'll be writing more or not. Glad you liked this (and the implications; I will admit to being an Ed/Roy 'shipper) and thanks for the lovely feedback!

Thanks for sharing! I love the bit about how Ross wasn't going to ask "not if, but what she needed to know."

You're welcome! (Who are you, anyway?) And thank you for letting me know that line worked -- it said what she meant, but I wasn't sure it worked for anyone else. Whee!

I'm not familiar with the Hammer film(s), so how did they tie in to the story?

::laughing:: The three Thulist leaders were based on recurring Hammer films actors and their usual parts. The actors were Peter Lorre, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Also, Frau Lallinger at Darius' church is based off Frau Blucher (who always made the horses scream for some reason; see Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein for this running joke).

No, though, Hammer films did some of the definitive horror of the day including Dracula movies in black and white that *still* terrify me to this day. If you've ever seen a Dracula movie that starts with someone's throat being cut over a pile of dust in a crypt to resurrect Dracula... you've seen a Hammer film.

Does this help?

Well, considering how I avoid horror movies like the plague, that explains why I had no clue. ;) Thanks for the explanation.

And now I have to reread the story again, since I'm not sure I imagined that slashy vibe between Roy and Ed. =D
