::giggling:: Matthew kept seeing the ridiculous side of things -- I'd turn around and he's laughing again. That rattled Alex a lot. But yeah, it was interesting to write this and watch Matthew just evaluate what the stakes were and what he was willing to bet... and then join the game. That fast. Kinda wild, but a lot of fun to see this side of him. I'm glad you like it!

(And I keep meaning to say -- neat icon!)

Yay! I'm so happy to see this!

Actually, that's all I have to say. Yay!

I'm glad that Matthew is as smart as he is.

Oh, if there was ever a time when Matthew needed to be using his brains, this was it! And good, I'm so glad you like it!

(Do you have any other thoughts on these two maniacs? Because I've given up and admitted that yes, there's got to be a sequel.)

Yay! She likes it! ::grins:: That said, you got me into this, woman, give me coherent feedback if you get the chance? (If only because I'm giving up and admitting these are a series and there needs to be at least one more...)

Oh yeah, I like it -- big surprise, that!

Okay, the end of the Line War (the fights, I mean), the thing that took it from great to magnificent was the way you defied dramatic conventions in favor of real-world sense. Winners and losers were determined not just by their fighting skills, but by the choices made over the years and the quality of the friends and enemies garnered thereby. (Just off the top of my head: a critical point in Johannes' fight with Aidan was when he parried with his left hand and got cut because he was wearing an inferior gauntlet, because he'd had to abandon his good gear when he'd died unexpectedly, because he'd annoyed the Lone Gunmen by going after one of their friends, who was one of Aidan's students.)

I'm seeing the same thing here. Why did Matthew believe Sasha when he said "aliens"? Because of Mulder. Two smart, dangerous men are trusting each other much faster than dramatic convention says they should -- because they are smart, dangerous men, and you thought through what that meant better than ( ... )

Okay, granted my life's been more than a bit hectic lately, but on looking this over I got the strangest case of deja-vu -- had I written this feedback before? I mean, when feedbacking one of your previous stories, did I write something substantially similar? If so, I apologize -- although I meant what I wrote here, that's gotta be annoying.
