And in other news -- movies!

Eee, I loved PotC III! (Despite occasional, you know, hiding my face in my hands, and asking Merewyn if I could look yet.) No one warned me it was three hours long, but wow, I didn't notice 'til we were out after the credits. As tarshaan said, the plot is not something that should be looked at too closely, but Merewyn called it Jack weaving drunkenly ( Read more... )

I'd have warned you it was three hours long! Except, well, ...it was three hours long? I didn't notice. Oops?

And yes, I want to see Shrek3 too. And I thinkn I've missed an HP film or two; since when did they get up five??

Wow, though, good movie!

Wasn't it awesome? I've seen it three times so far. According to the script writers, the movie was actually twenty minutes longer, which was decided was too long, and some very useful information got cut. Apparently they're hoping to be able to release a script with that longer version at some point.

I was surprised there was no HP trailer as well.

They'll probably put the extra scenes on the DVD, yeah. I have to say, they could have left half an hour out of II for all of me. But wow, good movie, I'm *still* bouncing and we got out after midnight last night!

I have to admit that I much preferred the first 2 PotC. I felt this one didn't have as much humour and was a series of confusing fight scenes held together loosely by a vague plot, and relying too heavily on special effects. Shame, as I was really looking forward to it.

Having said that, I didn't notice it was 3 hours while I was in it, so it wasn't that bad. And, well, it *did* have Captain Jack in it. Glad everyone else enjoyed it.

Liked Ocean's 13. And I would say go see the first two before you do. No spoilers or problems if you don't, but it would bring the characters to life more, imho. Again preferred the first two but I didn't think they messed with the formula.

Looking forward to Shrek :-)

I didn't notice it was that long until I left the theatre, and there were no complaints from my nine year old either. Watching Jack Sparrow kept her and us glued to the seat the whole time.

PotC III was fun, but I still think the first one was the best. This one was just a little too convoluted for me. By the 3rd or 4th time somebody was taking over the Black Pearl at pistol point, I kinda lost sight of what was going on. But it had Jack prancing around once again and I loved loved loved Barbossa.

Ocean's 13 is very enjoyable. Lots better than 12 and so many long missed and well beloved faces. Ellen Barkin looked fantabulous and there was Eddie Izzard and Julian Sands, too.

Next I want to see the new Die Hard, Irina Palm and probably Shrek III, too.

::nodding:: Agreed, I think the first one was best. It had Jack, and it made me really like Barbossa.

Cool, I hadn't bothered with 12, but 13 is looking fun. Shrek III I want to see; the new Die Hard looks like it'll suspend my disbelief by the neck until dead, so I think I'm going to pass. Irina Palm?
