A landrover is more likely than a jeep. And the generic term would be 4X4, if you don't want to specify. And a Landrover is affectionately referred to as a Landy by some (although prob in the UK more than Greece)

An old Landrover is more robust than the new ones, the old ones were the preferred 4x4 of choice (all around the world) and lasted for years and years. You can have it as beat up as you like, or well looked after but with a bit of patched paintwork. And if you need, a lot had high level exhausts, venting above the windscreen - good for fording rivers, for example...

::nodding:: Thanks so much, Gill! {{hugs}} That's exactly what I needed to know. And the high level exhausts is *very* useful, too. Whee! Off to write a jeep chase!

Take as long as you like, knowing it'll make people happy when it happens.

::howling with laughter:: Oh, God, Rex Stout has hooked another one, hasn't he? Blame m_butterfly! It's her fault. She hooked me, last Yuletide. {{hugs}} Condolences, and I hope your local public library is well stocked!

I've now read Champagne for One and Silent Speaker, am now reading Golden Spiders, and haven't started In the Best Families. I remember that the last one is part of the three-part series you mentioned, but I don't remember where in the series.

I like that they aren't what Peter Wimsey called "clock and time-table" mysteries, but concentrate more on the human story.

::laughing:: Too funny. I'm currently rereading In the Best Families, having just reread the other two in that series. ::cheerful:: I adore Archie, and Fritz, and I'm with you -- I like the humanity of it. I also like the fact that Stout isn't afraid to have women be the killers.

Glad you're enjoying them so!
