"Shades of Grey," PG, Highlander/Forever Knight

Oct 15, 2005 18:21

I've been promising unovis_lj and devohoneybee a story with Darius, Lucien, and a chess board for ages. Here it is. Devo suggested 'stars, ocean, comfort' and this is what came out.

Usual disclaimers: Not mine, no money made. Rated PG, although it's likely G. Gen. Written for crossovers100, prompt # 46 - star. 2 down, 98 to go.

I couldn't have asked for more with this. Two of my favorite charaters, creating a lovely mood together. Thank you so much! *happiness*

::pleased:: I'm so glad you liked it. I've been wanting to write something like that for years now and finally, it came out. Whee!

Thanks! The surprising thing to me was how easy it was to let them talk to each other. They seemed to be somewhere between mutual respect and friendship, which was a really neat feeling. I'm glad you liked it! (Great icon, too!)

This is an odd couple, certainly. I thought somehow they'd be at each other's throats *g*
I love the night setting, and the mystery of the sacred well.

::grinning:: Whereas I started writing and realized they enjoy verbal and chessboard sparring and actually like each other. A very pleasant surprise. Oh, speaking of pleasant surprises: The well is based off of a real one at St. Julien's. There's an online tour/history of St. Julien le Pauvre here that mentions it. The well is in the north apse; it is bricked up; it used to be sacred but they decided (when they quit selling the waters) that it was no longer healing people. I couldn't resist playing with it in this.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the story, Unovis!

Oh, very nice. I liked the exchange about the sea, in particular, and the way you followed up on it.

Thanks! Figuring out how to follow up on that took a while, because I knew LaCroix was headed for St. Petersburg, but nowhere near the Atlantic. I finally gave up and ran with the differing seas. I'm glad you liked it -- thanks for writing to tell me!
