I just rewatched "The End of Innocence," with much yelling and gesticulating and calling on the heavens to agree with me (::g:: we do have fun re-watching these, what can I say?) and I herewith throw out the thoughts on this ep. that hopefully won't get me lynched in comments ( Read more... )

characters: haresh & carter, writing: character discussions, cheerful things, fandoms: highlander

1. Holy crap!!! This never occurred to me. Those certainly are the OTP of all quickenings.

2. Must re-watch repeatedly to be sure.

1. ::laughing:: Well, the difference between Rich and Duncan in the first scene and even in the scene in the cemetary, and the last scene at Joe's bar is just so pronounced, that I had to wonder.

2. Trust me. Pause it. Let me know if we're crazy?

::shudder:: Eeeeew! No! That's the bad place. (Although I've been fighting off a plot bunny for years of an AU where Carter's quickening makes Rich fall in love with Haresh. Couldn't that be gloriously messy?)

::wicked grin:: Yeah. But imagine Carter trying to convince Haresh, through Rich, that it's him, and Rich trying to cope with it? Messy. Yeah. ::cheerful::

(very interested) Screencaps?

As for 1), I think it's possible, but not exactly likely. From what we have seen in this series, normal Quickenings tends to be accumulated fairly quickly without any lingering effects for the host's personality...

I wish! I don't have screencaps.

::g:: Canonically, quickenings hit Richie harder. Alec Hill's left him with a taste for cigars and a talent for playing harmonica. Duncan... okay, that's another matter. ::g::

Did Richie ever HAD a personality? :)

Unfair, I know. :) But I didn't like him, in case you didn't notice yet. I absolutely can't tolerate stupidity.

To give what credit is due, Richie actually matured quite a bit as the series went on, especially if you consider his episodes in sequence. He periodically backslid, then caught back up. ::shrug:: And he was supposed to have been seventeen when it started, twenty-one or twenty-two when he lost his head. Once I take that into account, it's a lot easier to cut him slack.

::amused:: Was that 'you' generic or 'you' specific? ::cheerful:: And hey, the difference between even the scene at the cemetary before the fight and the scene at Joe's after the fight is just amazing in the ways Duncan and Rich are getting along better.

1. Is it just me or could you make a case that Duncan and Rich calm down and reconcile at the end of this because one of them got Carter's quickening and the other got Haresh's? ;->
wow! I can't believe I never put that together. That's really cool! My mind is boggling.

As for the quickening hard-on -- I believe Killa posted those quite a while ago. It might have been Kamil, but I think Killa. Perhaps she still has the caps. (I know I'd keep them) *looking innocently sidewise*

I just remembered that she posted them along with some pictures of AP in that silver leotard from the Colby's, where he also seemed to really enjoy his work ;-)

And there are the ones from Tracker where he's tied by bad guys to that metal table.

::amazed:: Is it just me, or are does bondage show up in an amazing number of fandoms? Hell, it's practically de rigeur in Wild, Wild West, just for not so innocent example.
