Neat!, Weird, and Ow

I had no idea that rural highways were really fog machines. I found this out driving down through northern Mississippi, about 10:30 at night a few weeks ago. The roads were still much warmer than the air, and it had just started raining as I turned off the interstate. Every drop of water that hit the pavement immediately reverted to vapor,

What's neat is that I drove the same MS roads this weekend, too, and this time the fog was coming up off the fields, and the roads were mostly clear. Just such a neat contrast!
