I've been seeing this... well, everywhere, really. Most recently, in m_butterfly's LJ:

If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, post exactly one sentence from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion ( Read more... )

Kastagir ostentatiously looked himself up and down. "Boots ... I’m amazed they didn’t steal them, come to think of it ... pants, shirt -- where exactly do you think I have a sword hidden? Up my ass?"

*snorts tea* Terrific line :) Good luck with the pro-fic submissions! I'll get there eventually, myself.

::giggling helplessly:: Should I have put a warning on it? It's Kastagir; I thought that was warning enough. Sorry about the tea!

(And well, yeah, Kastagir has a point, too...)

The fanfic caught my interest, but it's the origfic that really grabbed me. Paving Stones, especially, because I have a bit of a Thing for werewolves, and not enough good writers do enough good things with them.

Perspectives also sounds very, very intriguing.

:weg: Want to look it over for a last edit? Perspectives, that is. I'm printing it out tomorrow to curse my way through a read-through and clean-up. Paving Stones is at the 'Arrgh, why did I do this to myself?!?' stage, and it's been 150 pages and I've only had one shapechanger change shape. What can I say, that's not what the story's about. All sorts of other things, but not really about changing shape. ::shaking head:: Leave it to me to write a novel about how good intentions aren't always.

For Labyrinth.... anonymous November 9 2004, 07:34:54 UTC
Did you mean "craigs and cliffs", or was that just a typo? (Since "craig" is a Scottish word for rock, it's entirely possible that you meant it. However, it's not a terribly well-known word.)

::blink:: Well, I *think* I meant craig, yes, but I can see where crags would work, too. Hmm. I'll have to think about that. Thank you for pointing it out, too!
