Actually, my explanation is somewhat glamorless. My last name is Greif, which is Griffin in German. Gryphon is another, less common, spelling of Griffin which I adopted because that's how you say the name is Hebrew. However, even with the less common spelling, the name is usually taken. The k comes from Krest. Gryphon Krest was sort of a character I used sometimes to represent a more stern and philosophizing side of myself, inside my own private world. There was a bunch of them, which I used to argue stuff with myself. Yes, I have voices in my head and I talk to myself. So what? So when gryphon is taken, I use gryphonk. It's always available.
Most of my friends use their names or version there of, but of those few who don't, I tagged eight so they'd explain themselves. Own up, people!
