I'm active in Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church in downtown Champaign. The liturgy is very much like the Catholic liturgy I grew up with, but it's more open. We have a broad range of political and theological opinions in the congregation, and that seems to be ok with pretty much everyone. The rector knows that I'm pagan as well as Christian, and he was fine with me joining. (I made an appointment to talk to him about my paganism before asking for confirmation.) The main message I hear over and over again in sermons is that God loves *everyone*

Urbana-Champaign Friends Meeting (the Quakers) is not particularly Christian. One can certainly be a Christian in the Meeting, but one will probably be in the minority. If your friend is looking for a specifically Christian community, that would eliminate both the Quakers and the Unitarian-Universalists.
