Random Fandom Fun Poll #11

The new comic came out today.  Hold me.

According to this Wiki and its source, Joss originally wanted Tara to come back to life at the end of S7, and he would have implemented it by having Buffy make a wish.

If Willow had made an off-hand wish and Anya had just happened to be hanging around, that seems much more plausible. All the same, it would be absolute torture for everyone to see Tara going through the same pain as Buffy about being resurrected. It was painful to see Buffy's agony in S6 and seeing someone as sweet and wonderful as Tara going through that would be five times - no, ten times as agonizing.

And I think Willow and Tara would eventually get back together (they were together at the unfortunate time Tara got Jossed), although there's all that Dark Willow baggage to deal with.

It would be horribly painful if Tara were depressed, but I optimistically think she wouldn't experience the same trauma as Buffy: theoretically the Scoobies would have learned from their experience with Buffy and would be a much better support system.

I would really like to see how Joss would have dealt with the Dark Willow baggage.

"Oh, Tara...you're alive? So I went on an evil rampage-y killing spree for NOTHING?"

That would definitely have been interesting! Makes me rethink how the Willow/Tara relationship would have played out over the course of S7. Not only does it put Dark Willow's actions into an even more negative light (if that's even possible), but it makes a gigantic obstacle for the two to resume their relationship.

The Scoobies would definitely be there to support her, but I doubt Buffy would have made the choice to bring Tara back in the first place. As much as I miss her during S7, Buffy knows how painful it is to be dragged from a place like heaven and I don't believe she'd want to put Tara through that.

I was sure about it being OOC for Buffy. It does feel like it but at the same time it could have been believable.

As for Tara and Willow, I think they could have worked it out, but it'll take a long time and a lot of patience on Willow's side. But it'll be a plus for Willow that she studied in England, which would help.

It would definitely help, I think, that Willow studied in England, as it would be some measure of proof for Tara that she had changed. It would be interesting to see Willow be forced to be patient for once; that's not her strong suit...

I think Willow would have developed differently if Tara was brought back, so made she's would conquer patience? ;)

Strangely, Joss never mentioned this desire to bring Tara back until AFTER Amber Benson gave an interview saying she's declined to come back in S7 as the the First because she thought it would be too painful for the Willow/Tara fans. Then all of a sudden Joss comes out with the "Well, I was GOING to bring Tara back for reals, but Amber Benson wouldn't do it!" business. I strongly doubt that he ever seriously intended any such thing when S7 was actually being written.

Well, that's very sketchy of Joss. I would believe that of him. You'd think since AB cared so much about Willow/Tara fans (supposedly her reason for refusing to play the First), she would have made an effort to come back, especially since they knew it was going to be the final season and Joss wouldn't have much time to screw with the characters again. There isn't a whole lot of room in S7 for a resurrection plot anyway- unless it was outlined and then had to be taken out and that's why we ended up with so much boring filler of the potentials...

I could believe that Joss has since convinced himself that he meant to do it. :P

Well, that's very sketchy of Joss.

He's a pretty sketchy guy.

If I remember right, it was supposed to happen before the last episode. So it would have been incongruous with theme, pacing, and all that. I'm with rahirah. Sounds like BS since W/K was obviously in the cards from pre-midseason on.

He was also originally planning to do Willow/Xander in S7, so... Yeah. I'd call BS on the Tara resurrection.
