guza way back in, like, November or something. I was the mood for this couple, so I decided I'd finally get around to writing it.
Summary: Draco and Luna come to a bump in the road on the way to run an errand.
"Just stay close to me, will you?" snapped twenty-four year old Draco Malfoy, as he clutched her hand in his and walked through the crowd.
She let go of his hand and stopped right there in the middle of the alley. People swarmed around her, moving about quickly and with purpose. It was easily the busiest time of the year in Diagon Alley.
Draco whirled around, eyes narrowed with confusion. "Lovegood," he said in an irritated manner, "are you coming?"
Luna blinked. "Of course I am. I just would like to know what we're doing first."
Malfoy glared at her. "You'll know when we get there."
"I want to know now."
Draco stared at her for what seemed like an eternity, then shot back icily, "We're running an errand for my father, all right? Now are you coming or aren't you?"
Luna bit her lip, then said, "What kind of errand?"
"We don't have time to talk about it. Let's go."
"There's always time, even if these people don't think so." She waved a hand at the people rushing past in blurs of color.
"I need to purchase a potion for him."
"What does he need it for?" said Luna.
"It's to make his face look younger," Draco said awkwardly. "He didn't want to be seen buying it."
"So he sends you?"
Draco nodded. "Yes."
"Well," said Luna, a dreamy smile spreading across her face, "what if I don't want to be seen buying it?"
Draco rolled his eyes impatiently. "Then I guess you'll just have to stay here, won't you?"
"But you want me to come with you, on the pretense that you're buying this age defying potion for me."
Draco stiffened and Luna knew the exact thought that was roaming through his mind at the moment - Bloody Ravenclaw.
"I could care less," he lied. Luna could tell he was lying. She could tell quite a lot about him, as a matter of fact.
"I'll go with you," she said, "on one condition."
"What?" he said, a smirk curling his lip as if amused.
"I want you to admit that Crumple Horned Snorkacks are real."
"No."
"Oh well. I'll just wait for you here then." Luna let out a small sigh and sat down in the middle of the street.
"Stupid girl!" one man yelled as he avoided tripping over her.
"Lovegood, get off the ground. You'll ruin those robes I bought."
"That's just something you'll have to live with," Luna said, lying down.
"Fine! Crumple Horned Snorkacks are real!" Draco yelled. "Just get out of the bloody street!"
Luna smiled placidly. "Okay."
She stood up and extended her hand.
Draco clasped it in his firmly and the two of them walked down the streets of Diagon Alley in their normal silence.
Well, as normal as a couple such as they could be.
