People keep faving an ancient image I drew of Jack Skeleton over on DA, and I can't imagine why. It's part of the 'fav everything I love squee' routes now, and the trend is interesting to watch since I'm so terribly inactive. The two images that get hit consistently, several a month these days, are the Yuuri/Wolfram image and the Jack Skeleton one

I think you should increase volume on works, period.

I think there's a snowball effect - when a work gets enough faves, people keep seeing it on other people's fav lists, and go fav it themselves. My older GAWDAWFUL Naruto works keep racking up the hits. Pushed partly by the continuing popularity of Naruto, but GAH THEY ARE AWFUL and people keep finding them.

Dude, I did a comic of Yami no Matsuei like... in freshman year of high school and that thing still gets hits. I have no idea why. o_o
