technical question

I'm currently using a tv thats not mine that is older. It doesn't have the little red, white, and yellow jacks to hook up my dvd player. Is there some other way to connect it? I tried to connect it through the cable box (it's at&t u-verse, not brighthouse) and i could get audio from the dvd player, but no video. As usual, I am confused. any

I was going to suggest using an old VCR if you can find one, but remembered that copy protection can mess with the video. It sounds like an RF modulator would work. (I don't think it should cost that much, but I didn't look very hard for alternatives. It also supports S-Video which I guess you don't need)
Not sure why the cable box wouldn't work.
