Aha! Just the man she was looking for!

This world was so very different from her own, she realized she would have to learn more about this new version of her beloved before trying to pursue him again. And what better way to do that than to get close to talk to one of his brothers?

And there was the oldest right there! She had only met him a few times in her own world, but from what she remembered, he was as mushy as a teddy bear and as gullible as a little kid. Cheri said he was "whipped". Beth really didn't care what he let Anissina do to him.

She skipped over to where he was practicing (what was it with these people and swords?) and called out happily. "Oh, Gwendal~~!"

He hears someone approach. 'Let them pass and leave me in peace...' he silently pleades.

Oh, Gwendal!!!

Damn.

He sheathes his sword and turns towards the young woman who called out to him with an attentive expression. What could she possibly want? His brow furrowed as he watched her approach. 'Why does she look so cheerful?'

"Beth," he greets.

She pursed her lips. "Elizabeth." Honestly, why did everyone want to shorten her beautiful name?

Her smile sprang back in place and she locked her hands behind her back as she neared the man.

"Hi! I was watching you play. You're very talented! I was very impressed! How are you?"

You're very talented! I was very impressed! Well naturally she was impressed. Gwendal was afterall a superior being.

"Swordsmanship is not a game to be played. It is a skill that must be practiced."

How are you? Better before she arrived.

"I am well, Elizabeth." He takes care to say her full name. "Is there something you want?"

"Alright! I'll help!" She grabbed his hand and grinned up at him. "Lead the way!"

Heavy, internal sigh.

This woman has grabbed hold of his hand. Actually, she is kind of pretty. And he hadn't expected her to actually agree to accompany him to the library. She must really want something from him.

Well, it was time to see how badly she wanted it.

He pulled his hand out of her grasp and draped his arm across her shoulders, trying to not seem as stiff about it as he felt. He guided her towards the library down the hall. "The book has many illustrations," he began in a rich, mischievous voice.

Eh? Why did he do that? Well, people in this world were a bit more lax with touching each other, she'd learned. Even so, this was a bit uncomfortable. She tried to relax as he lead her down the hall.

"Illus...??" She didn't know that word. And the tone of his voice made her eyes grow a bit. This Gwendal didn't seem very much like hers...

My god, could she not even say the word illustrations? How stupid was she? He can't help but be revulsed by her stupidity and abruptly drops his arm upon reaching the library door and push it open.

He thought about holding it open for her highness, but her stupidity has annoyed him.

He smirked as the door rushed forward to slam in her face. Would she catch the door?

He wasn't sure where this childish attitude was coming from.

She caught the door just before it hit her, confused at his sudden change. She followed him into the library and looked around at the shelves of books a bit nervously.

"So, any idea what this book looks like?"
