Yeah, I'm trying to keep an open mind about it, just in case the show goes to series and they keep him as Khal Drogo. But I have to admit that my first thought was, "At least Drogo dies in the first book".

Momoa seems like a good guy, but when the added him to Atlantis, I had to stop watching. It's not as though the show was particularly good to begin with, but I couldn't stomach it after he showed up. Though, I have to admit, I saw a couple of the last episodes, and it seemed like he'd improved somewhat.

Recent reading on the NAB:

I'm going to have to rewrite the books so only nice things happen to Arya and Sansa. Might change the story some.

...I hope to hell he's kidding. I mean, I really hope to hell he's kidding. But frankly, I wouldn't put it past him.

Yeah never really pictured Khal Drogo as a "let's sit around listening to Bob Marley and smoke some weed" kinda guy - which is the vibe I get off of this pic.

I think this is clear evidence the casting director is either Ray, Pesci or a reader of this blog. Scroll down a bit on the main page and take a look at the picture of Muppet-Drogo.

Personally I don’t think Momoa is that bad a choice. I always saw the Dothraki as being similar to the Mongol warriors of Genghis Khan’s day. Given that it’s unlikely we’ll find any Mongol actor to play the role then a Pacific Islander or a Maori (I think Momoa is a Maori, he said a version of the haka clinched the role for him) is a good option. If they’d cast the ‘net a little wider then Temeura Morrison (Jake the Mus in Once Were Warriors) or Jay La’gai’ai (sp?) would have been better (on reflection Morrison looks a little old now, but Jay is still young enough looking to do it). Anyway I think Momoa will give a credible performance, you guys deliberately selected the least of the Drogoish shots that have been circulating ( ... )

I think Momoa actually looks the part, but I don't think he is a good actor at all.

Does he really even have to "act" for this? All he has to do is look menacing, say "moon of my life", and plow some jailbait.
