GI Backs Us Up

Not to distract from the discussion of all things sausage, but I would like to make note that the July 2009 issue of Game Informer (with the sweet picture of Max Payne 3 on the cover) has noted in their "Good/Bad/Ugly" column that Cyanide Studio's purchase of the video game rights for ASOIAF is a depressingly bad idea.  They note, just as we did ( Read more... )

It's going to be a complete and utter failure.

Companies have hardly been able to produce a decent Movie to Game adaptation in the last 8 years, I doubt they'll have much more luck with an incomplete book series.

I bet if they let the Big Ham help out at all they'd spend most of their time trying to understand the oil spittle-launching gibberish that he'd say while trying to jam as many sausages into his mouth as possible.

Plus it's a company whose primary language is French. I shudder at the translations punctuated by flying bits of saucisse.

George sure can pick the winners. He is filled with visions of entrepreneurial greatness but somehow manages to step in it when it comes to business partners.

He needs a business manager to take care of the merchandising. Someone to say, "Yes, George. Good idea, George. Uh-huh. Now go back to writing."

I will say that the A Game of Thrones board game by Fantasy Flight Games is actually really good. But then it was released back in 2003, when George was still really good too ( ... )

George running his own business interests is like Mike Tyson running his own business interests.

George was born to write, Tyson was born to box (well, and chew off ears) Maybe that's something else they have in common.

Talk about counting your eggs before they hatch. Maybe with this future failure the old addage will be changed to "Don't sign a license agreement before you're finished with your product."

Martin will see that and subconsciously read it as "Don't sign a license agreement before you're finished eating all your sausages."

"Assassin's Creed" was made by Ubisoft (so yeah, frenchies), as well as the "Sands of Time" trilogy for Prince of Persia and "Heroes of Might and Magic V". But they're a well known company who make great games.
Who the hell is Cyanide?! Another bad move, which really shouldn't surprise anyone at this point.
