Well, Reuters has the story out already, so there's no longer any reason for me to keep mum. Yes, the rumors you've been seeing all over the web the last few days are true. Another huge piece has fallen into place for the HBO pilot of A GAME OF THRONES -- we have signed Sean Bean to play the part of Lord Eddard Stark

That's some brilliant, inspired casting! And the young Mr Kit looks perfect to portray my favorite bastard. :-D

(ETA: I should add that I'd LOVE to see Kevin McKidd (Rome, Journeyman) as Jamie Lannister. :) )

Kevin McKidd would look the part, but disagree with his on-screen persona, I don't think he could pull off the Jaime character. Would much rather see Simon Baker or Paul Bettany - someone who could pull off the casual, quick-witted banter almost effortlessly.

I second that and would like to add that I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Ray Stevenson (Pullo from "Rome" for those who don't know) in any role you guys see fit. That guy is awesome and I'd love to have another reason to watch both him and McKidd :D
