Unlike a lot of series, a successor series to GAME OF THRONES doesn't necessarily feel like a sordid attempt to extend a franchise past its due date, since there's so much Planetos history written which comes from far before the series proper.
Still, an awful lot will depend on who will be writing for it. I've found it interesting how many writers seem to have difficulty getting the mood of a SoIaF story right. The Telltale GOT series kinda derailed as it went on because of this, for example.
question about your writing progression from book 1 to ext_4125009May 14 2017, 03:56:37 UTC
Hi George, I have finally begun my long intended task of re reading the ASOIAF books but taking notes this time so I can attempt to unravel some of the many mysteries and sort out some of the various "fan theories" regarding the series. I'm literally only in the second chapter of GOT, and already have multiple highlights and notes in the columns. So I am curious- after writing 5 of the books- were you as meticilulous in writing the fifth book as you were on the first? As you progressed did the writing come easier? And is there as much hidden between the lines in the later books as in the first? Thanks for giving us such a wonderful series! Josh.
Im glad to see that you seem to be in good spirit's of late!
And im even more happy that your self imposed ban on 'cons and other less pertinent time-consuming events seems to have been lifted and all that it hints at!!
In the meantime ill continue working my way through your other works. I just finished Starlady ( was golden boy a telepath, mayhaps?) Nightflyers is up next, so i guess thats good timing

I'll give it a chance, whatever it is.

Now I would really be happy if I also got to see The Glass Flower and the The Way of Cross and Dragon.
Those are my 3 favorite short stories from George, the entire thousand worlds collection is vastly underrated. So many gems.
