Fitz said he would rather retire than play for what we are currently offering him. I think Geno gets one last shot with Marshall and Chad Gailey as OC, keep Petty as our backup, and hopefully Hack dosen't see the field this year. We have a really tough schedule, especially to start, and I don't think the difference between Fitz and Geno will win us many more games. If Geno and Bryce prove to not have what it takes at least we will have a high draft pick next year in what will likely be a better draft class.
While watching the draft, I kept thinking about how you'd react to each pick by the New York teams. I don't like the pick of Christian Hackenberg. If the Jets were going to take a QB. They should have taken Lynch in the first. He may take some time, but he has the ability to be a franchise QB. Only Wentz has a similar upside to Lynch.
I would trade Geno Smith...ext_3261435April 30 2016, 17:34:43 UTC
...and sign Fitz, Hackenberg and Petty.
I realize that Geno has talent; however, I just feel that he might be a bit toxic to the locker room. I've just seen so many guys like that who are controversy builders and divide the loyalty of the team. I fear that he is a narcissist and one of those guys who lacks focus and production yet needs perpetual support and even relies upon adoration from those around him.
Then again, Coach Bowles might be a great influence on Geno Smith. I don't know if he can develop him, but I think that he might add some much-needed discipline and focus.
George, did you like your 310 pick? I thought NY should have gone for Ryan Kelly from Alabama (that kid is 6'4" and 320lbs. He's a beast and just what the G-men need to keep Eli safe for a few more years.
I also thought that Michael Thomas (6'3" 215) over the smaller Sterling Shepard would have been a smarter WR pick but hey I'm just a fan not front office! Since I am a Saints fan I am fine with that pick though!
How many more years you think you got with Eli especially under a new HC?
