Amanda's Art of Asking

When Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman visited the Jean Cocteau Cinema in September, Amanda read a bit for us from her new book, THE ART OF ASKING.  Sounded very cool.... unfortunately, we couldn't sell any copies, since the book had not yet been published.  The only copy on site was the advance copy that Amanda was reading from.

Ohhh she's amazing, I love her music both with Dresden Dolls and solo. Coolest eyebrows I've ever seen.

I was brought on to shoot her show when she came to Philly promoting the book last week: https://www.flickr.com/photos/75149876@N00/sets/72157649314273861/

George, I'm afraid she has raised the bar. When you hit town to promote Winds of Winter, I'll expect to see you with a ukulele.

Damn you. Now I've got a ASOIAF filk set to "The Ukelele Song" bubbling in my head meat.

You can watch Ned lose his head
You can play at weddings red
You can play for Others (dead!)
Just PLAY YOUR UKELELE

As someone who, for many years, sang on the street before getting paid to on the regular, I loved Amanda Palmers thoughts. I saw some of her performance pieces on it. I'll have to get that book. :)

I just finished her book. Beautiful read. It is raw, to the point it makes you flinch. One of the few times I recommend the audio book along with the book. She has a wonderful voice and has added plenty of her song to bring a bit extra to it.

I have to say thank you for bring guest to the Jean Cocteau. I have gotten to see some of my favorite writes and that just make this reader day thinking about those times.
