That's great to hear! I already pre-ordered it awhile back, so I've been hoping the reviews would be good. On Amazon you even get a really neat art book for pre-ordering. I also heard that Game Informer gave it a good review, and that they are usually quite brutal. Can't wait!
Quite brutal? According to Metacritic, they review 63% of games higher than the average critic. Anecdotally, I have noticed that they hand out probably four or five 9+ reviews every month, sometimes to games that hardly warrant such scores.
This isn't to cast doubts on the upcoming GoT RPG, but to say that Game Informer is about the last publication I'd listen to no matter what it ends up saying.
I find Metacritic ratings to be a pretty decent guide to overall game value. I also tend to go check out forum comments directly from owners of the games if I have my doubts. Steam is very useful for that.
If the game meets with market success, I have no doubt the producers will seek to fuel more interest by releasing DLCs (Downloadable Content) that definitely could and should include female character options.
The game looks really good - can't wait to explore your universe through a game.
I notice the release date is 15th May - which is the same release date as Blizzard's Diablo3 - one of the most anticipated games in a long time (I only know a handful of gamers who won't be getting D3). Anyway, I hope it doesn't impact the sales or uptake of the GOT:RPG too much. I'll get both :)
It looks great! ext_1082417May 3 2012, 23:12:54 UTC
don't listen to the revivews, i'm a 25-year-old swedish male, been playing games since my sister let me lend her NES/ZELDA at age 6.
action-rpgs, or hacknslash, are usually rated very poorly in magazines/websites. They hate hacknslash games, but if this is indeed made for co-op in mind, im def gonna pick it up and play it through with one of my rpg buddies.

I have to say I'm kind of disappointed that you only have a choice between two male characters. I still, of course, will be playing it though. :)

so many strong female characters in the trilogy, i'd hope all that progress isn't lost in the game!
