Ice & Fire Calendar Announced for Comicon

The official Song of Ice and Fire calendar for 2011 has just moved into production, and will be available this summer, publisher Bantam Spectra has informed me. This year's calendar is illustrated by the acclaimed fantasy artist Ted Nasmith, featuring a dozen gorgeous paintings of the great castles of Westeros. A thirteenth castle (not shown here

Wow, always so cool getting to see these great images to complement their literary counterparts. It's a credit to you that they are so similar to the pictures I have in my head from the imagery in the books.

On a separate note, your involvement with the fans is so awesome. All the little bits are so much fun, from updates on Dance to weighing in on the Suvudu matches, I just enjoy the level of personal connection you have with your fans.

Again, good stuff, and I'm looking forward to what you have planned for us and Westeros whenever you finally decide Dance is up to your exacting standards.

Brilliant. I've never been a fan of Ted Nasmith's renderings of people, but I think a series of castles is a great fit for him. I'll definitely be picking this one up.

I have the 2009 calendar still here on my desk next to me. I've been meaning to cut it up and frame the pics, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I think Nasmith's original field of art was architectural rendering, so yeah, no surprise he went to town with these. Lots to like here, but I love Sunspear best I think, or maybe Riverrun (which reminds me of Bodiam Castle).
