Brooklyn, NY is a wonderful town

and it doesn't rain even one hundredth as much as it seems to in Vancouver. I'm back and I didn't get eaten by a coyote! That might not sound like much of an achievement, but I did encounter such an animal on my morning run. For a city girl from down under, it was a bit of a shock.

I was running down the path in one direction, and the animal in question came loping towards me in the other direction. Since we were in North America and we were both obediently following running protocol, we both stuck to the right. We gave each other the eye and passed within a metre of each other. I tried to look calm and in control, but on the inside I was maintaining a running commentary along the lines of "holy motherfucker it's a fucking coyote oh shit if it tries to bite me i'm going to kick it oh shit perhaps this is totally normal? oh shit holy fuck."

this reply should definitely be rated R for language.

Eek! I'd have been terrified (but then, I do tend to be a bit scared of dogs of any sort, wild or a bit less wild).

Good to know the encounter went well!

Hooray! I have, I have! I'm recovering from the thoroughly evil day by writing more of Phoenix Song. :)
