One of the allures of Tumblr I think is that you appear to get a lot more response to posts.   Tumblr enables a quick "like" and reblog function which can get your posts spreading around a lot via people you don't know.  As I've been playing more in Tumblr and thinking about the LJ vs. Tumblr comparison, I've begun to think that for those of us who

tumblr and pinterest are places to go for the eyecandy.
it's too bad one can't post "privately" on these places (okay, pinterest allows you to have three "private" boards but that's exactly what that means - not sharable with your friends!).
i like to remain anonymous as much a possible, AND have conversations.
but i go on tumblr and pinterest for my dose of pretties - also a good way to waste the day and night away. heh

I *really* like that I have the option to go private on LJ.

Outside of SPN-world, the pretties on both Tumblr and Pinterest are pretty amazing. I follow this one Tumblr blog that posts just inspiring images and another that has amazing artwork. Plus I'm a junkie for mid-century design of any kind.

yeah, my adult ADHD comes out quite frequently when i'm on pinterest and i find myself with many different, unrelated sites open and before i know it, the time has dissipated!
