Trying something...

Missyjack posted a rec to this the other day.  The name of the site intrigued me. I mean really, what isn't intriguing about a site called  "Unfuck Your Habitat"?   (And I also love the acronym for the site UFYH.)

The simple foundation for this site is "MAKE YOUR BED!"   Ha!   Weirdly enough this was actually something I was trying to adopt myself ( Read more... )

i make my bed as soon as i get out of it. so much easier that way but then it helps if i'm the one using it. hubs makes his whenever but he still does it daily.

but of course you do know that doing something 21 continuous days turns it into a habit, right?

oh, i didn't know about the drain bomb - i just pour a third of a bottle of draino to clear things out. (i've only done that once and then removed the stopper permanently and replaced it with a hair catcher thingy)
i'll have to keep the bomb in mind and get some vinegar. what's the recipe?

...and thanks for that link - i've bookmarked it.

With me it was truly the fact that I'm not really awake and functional til about 2 hrs after waking up. Which is why I try to get up at least 2-3 hrs before I have to face the public. But I've found as I've gotten older I tend to be more awake in mornings. Not that I want to deal with people early (I avoid scheduling mtgs before 10 if I can help it) but an unmade bed I can now deal with.

Yup knew about the 21 days. Seems to take longer for me. ;P

You can google the recipe for drain bomb. Theres a lot if sites out there for 1001 uses for vinegar. But honestly all I did was pour some baking soda out of box into drain and follow with pouring white distilled vinegar down after. It bubbles and then drains. Then I turned on hot water after. The recipe I read talked about pouring boiling water after ( if you don't have PVC pipes). But what I did worked great. I ended up doing all our drains including shower (which bubbled up a scarily long time). Used almost a gallon of vinegar (we have a lot of drains.).

I need to try that receipe in the shower drain! It's not such a long time the sink was un-clugged (using bambie-eyes when dad was visiting!!!) - but the shower drain.... I haven't dared touching it, and I don't want to know what kind of animals have died down there (because really - that cannot all be my hair, can it?)

Inspiring site! I might even try cleaning one of these days! LOL
I am one of those who start to clean - but end up reading those old magazines I find down in that pile - and before I know it, I've been reading for 3 hours.
Making my bed - eh - oh boy... I do have a really pretty bedspread, and my bedroom looks so pretty when it's clean and the bed is made and.... but I really should take a picture that one day a year it looks like that.

Thanks for passing along that great Tumblr link. I'll be checking it out in detail later. I missed Missyjack's rec of it. :P

I usually make my bed every day, but not since living here at my aunt's place. I'm only in my makeshift bedroom when I sleep, so I don't see any point in making it. But at home, my computer's in my bedroom, so since I hang out in there I like to have a nice, made up bed. :)
